So much for the day of rest

Aug 24, 2008 13:10

A while ago I said that my days were going backwards - I was only getting going by the time I had to get ready for bed again.

Well, now the procedure seems to have slammed into reverse.  This morning, for example. was not the usual -  admittedly rubbish - routine of sleep until 11 am, stagger round until 1pm, begin to engage brain by 3pm etc.

The scene:  A bedroom.   The curtains are closed, there is the sound of rain.  A double bed is positioned against one wall; two lumps - people, of course - are under the quilt.    FOOTLING is only visible by her hand clutching the quilt and her mop of hair on the pillow.

FOO'S BRAIN:    Hey, wake up!  Time to get up!  Time to do stuff!

Foo: Unh..... Uh?

Brain:  Yup.  Wake up!  It's morning!

Foo (sleepily):  Are you sure?

Brain (bright and shiny):  Sure?  Of course I'm sure.

Foo:  But, Brain....  It's still dark.

Brain:  No it's not.

Foo:  Yes it is.  I've put my head out from under the covers and there's no difference.  It's still dark.

Brain:  Well, it's still morning.

Foo (suspiciously):  What time in the morning?

Brain:  Ummm....

Foo:  C'mon - out with it!

Brain:  About four?

Foo:  That is NOT morning.

Brain:  It is!  It's dawn!  Well, it will be in an hour or so.  Starting to be.  On the edges...  Listen!  A bird calling!  It's morning!

Foo groans and pulls the covers back over her head.....

So guess who got up at ten past six?

No words yet, but some revisions, a review or two (personal consumption only) and lots of surfing.  Oh - and the vital task of reorganising my bookmarks.   Yes, I know.....   But I'm still awake!  I feel awake!  I can't believe it.  I think I shall go and get them now.
