Gabriel Heinze fic rec 3
Revision being what it is, this is a double recommendation, I hope this is allowed. I offered to pimp Gaby Heinze because I know that although there was not a lot of fics out there about him, those that there are include some very good ones and these two are the best, in my opinion.

Short Summary: Gaby and Ruud in Spain
Apart from an outstanding display of clairvoyance in transferring Gaby to Real Madrid in the summer of 2007, this story deserves to be read because of the skill of the writing, particularly in the drawing of the characters. From Ruud sitting in the sun by his pool, to the description of their physical akwardness with each other it's impossible not to believe in them. They have an existence beyond the confines of the story both together and separately, Ruud removing his wedding ring tells the reader more than a whole page of character exposition.

Short Summary: home but not home
My last rec is one of my favourite fics. Again, the writing of both the characters is wonderful and the interest in the story lies in the closeness that develops between the two of them in their isolation. It also gives a good picture of the deeply odd world in which professional footballers live.
