This story was recommended to me by applegnat. It’s about an unhappy marriage, not a subject generally written about in footballslash. It deserves to be more widely read because it is so well written, beautifully structured but very emotive.
The main character is Guti, the Real Madrid player, this is obviously fiction but Guti’s sexual orientation and marital problems have been the subject of speculation in the Spanish press for a long time.
There is no villain in this story, canarycreams writing is much more subtle than that. Her characters are tied together, by their children, by convention, but also by love, and there is no simple answer to their situation.
I wrote what I thought best for the heading, obviously if canarycreams is unhappy with it, I will change it.
I apologise think I may have misread the title of the story, I have renamed it, I hope this is right.
