He looked at the grass at his feet.
He felt oddly heavy.
Everything moved in slow motion.
No one notices.
He kicked towards a teammate, his leg swings back, his foot touches the ball, he watches as the ball flies through the air, a stark contrast against the bright blue sky.
The ball lands where it should; and he is relieved. At least some things still go as they should.
The minutes are hours as they go through their daily training, and it’s not the same.
He is tired.
He is hurt.
He knows it will never be the same.
