Not exactly how he had hoped his debut for the Whites would turn out. The Press back home would have a field day. He glanced at Gonzalo, who looked as defeated as he did.
In the dressing room, Fernando kicked off his boots, sat down, resting his elbows on his thighs, leaning forward and staring at nothing at all. Someone walked by, petted his head.
The silence in the dressing room was broken by some swearing, followed by a huge, heated discussion. Fernando looked up, smiling again. Passion. It was there after all.
There was hope.
