They are all together (only a few faces missing; they were not welcome to begin with) and they are all laughing (something that’s been missing lately).
They have all had a few drinks (you can smell it on them the moment you walk in the door) and they are all happy (something that’s been missing lately).
They are feeling united, brought together by a common enemy (it’s such a beautiful thing to see) and they believe in each other, trust dragged up by necessity (something that’s been missing lately).
They sing.

This is the way it always goes, he thinks to himself, it’s the same thing every time. They do this at a frantic pace, always in a hurry, always rushed. One time when he brought it up, Guti said that sometimes he doesn’t feel like he deserves it. He rushes so he won’t feel guilty at taking up too much of Raul’s time.
Raul tells himself he’ll slow it down the next time. He won’t let him set such a quick pace. He’ll make it slow, even if it means tying Guti’s hands to the bed so he can’t move.

He asks him why this season is different. Last season when he’d brought it up, when he’d mentioned Sergio, Raul had said no. He hadn’t thought it was a good idea. Guti hadn’t complained, he hadn’t inquired. He’d just politely tried to sway the boy’s attention to someone else.
This season Raul includes Sergio a lot. He lets Guti have him, lets him treat the youngster like a toy (lovingly though, because Guti could never outright use anyone).
“Why is this season different?” Raul asks, “Because he makes you smile, and he makes you laugh. That’s more than worth it.”

He grins as Sergio and Fernando taunt Gonzalo.
Remember your partner, she said.
It’s been a week since Calderon’s comments and though Guti tries to hide it, they still upset him. He turns to Raul for comfort because no one else understands.
He needs me, he told her.
He needs more than you, she said.
