He stared at the dark bruises around his wrists without really feeling the pain. He was way past feeling or remembering anything other than the blur of pictures that kept replacing themselves too quickly in his mind.
Blows. Blood. Screaming, and then finally the blissful darkness that allowed him a precious few moments of rest before the cold water brought him back to reality. It seemed so long ago or maybe just a few moments?
He had lost the sense of time. The question and the hateful, sneering tone still sounded clear, though.
"Will you leave my son alone now?"

He had wanted to sound calm, but his tone rose involuntarily to shrill and panicky before the first word had even passed his lips. He hated the feeling of being trapped, hated the feeling of the locker against his back and Francesco's hand resting against the metal, much too close to Philippe's face.
"We're not talking about what you meant to do or not. The important thing is that you did it, so it's your fault. Admit it!"
He knew he had to. Captain always got what he wanted.
