Christian, usually not someone to give in to sentimentality, often caught himself thinking of what his life would be like if he had never met Filippo. Or if fate - it's hard not to believe it exists when you look at certain episodes of your life, and how they turned out to change every step that followed - would have found another way to bring them together. A friend's wedding. A bus. Maybe even, ironically, at a football match, agreeing on the team, but not the player. Christian likes to think that yes, fate would have found that other way.
