Two drabbles; Arsenal

Disclaimer: All a figment of my admittedly very realistic imagination.

1.
Title: The End
Author: hallucinogenia
Team of Choice: Arsenal
Prompt: Pity
Pairing: Could be gen, could be Guti/Raúl
Rating: G

Raúl only knew something was wrong because Guti couldn't look him in the eye: Guti had gotten good at hiding things over the years, but Raúl had watched him learn how, and Guti never forgot that. Raúl took him home after training, ignoring the half-hearted protests and pretending not to notice the endless twisting of his wedding ring. His house was quiet and cold, felt as though it had been for some time, and when Guti stepped inside he was quiet and cold, too.

"There's nothing--" Guti finally said, voice cracking, and Raúl wrapped his arms around his friend.

Title: The First Cut
Author: hallucinogenia
Team of Choice: Arsenal
Prompt: Pity
Pairing: None, gen
Rating: G

They're always heavily depleted come internationals time, which usually makes for a depressing time, and Higuaín moping about the training ground like a black cloud only exacerbates things. Guti just wishes he could get away with hitting the boy, especially when he sees Raúl speaking earnestly to him, looking older and more martyr-like than ever.

"You've got a decade to prove yourself, kid," he mutters later, infected with Higuaín's malaise. "Get over it." It doesn't help, which isn't surprising; the first time you aren't called up always feels like the end of the world.

But it just gets worse.

Goodness me, those came out bleak!
