“Phew! I’m full.” Freddie takes one last bit of crème brûlée, sighs, places his spoon beside the half-empty dessert bowl, leans back in his chair and pats his tummy as the delicious mass joins an apéritif, a fresh garden salad, a bowl of seafood soup, a gigantic steak (rare) with crisp vegetables and aromatic herb butter, an estimated foot of French bread and several glasses of excellent red wine in his stomoach.
“Pity,” Jens says, leans forward, places two fingers on the rim of the porcellain bowl and pulls it over before the attentive waiter gets the wrong idea.
