Disclaimer: I only made this up interpreting "board" as a cardboard box.
Jens hadn’t meant to open it. He was rummaging through the wardrobe for an
old teeshirt when this box fell out and a bunch of stuff sailed to the floor: photos;
letters; a pair of sunglasses; a wristband. Jens knelt. He didn’t mean to look,
but some things are hard to avoid. When he saw a much younger Freddie smooching
the cheek of a laughing boy - who resembled Jens a bit with fine features and dark
wavy hair - Jens thought it was an illusion to believe you could ever truly know
someone. Not that this was a bad thing.
