It's the click that brings him back. Cristiano slowly drags his wrists back to his body, suddenly all too aware of the bruises he can't yet see. When he sits up he sees the steel cuffs on the pillow, he picks them up - curious about the weight of them in his hands. He wants to fit them to the marks on his wrists, but worries Rio wouldn't give him the key.
"We never...we did not discuss this," he says, trying to keep confusion and accusation out of his voice.
Rio doesn't even turn around from pulling on his jeans.

"You should go." A copper bottomed saucepan landed onto the hob with a clang. "You've been invited. It's the right thing to do."
A chopping board clattered onto the work surface.
A solitary onion found itself rudely whisked from the dry comfort of the vegetable rack and placed with intent on the board.
As Sandro was about to bring down the knife with some force on the innocent onion, he felt warm fingers creep under his shirt and splay on his lower back. He lowered the knife.
"Really. It's fine." And he started chopping, slowly.
