Xabi Alonso/Esteban Granero AU - Second Chances

Esteban's biggest dream in life is to meet Xabi Alonso, the author of his favorite book and quite possibly the greatest poet and novelist alive (even though you've probably never heard of him~ ). He's convinced that Xabi and him are kindred spirits, and that if they were ever to meet his entire life would change.

His dream finally comes true. However, it turns out that, yes, Xabi's handsome and intelligent and has impeccable taste in everything, but he's also total bastard who ends up taking advantage of Esteban's naivete and blind admiration. They have a one night stand and after that Xabi kicks him to the curb leaving poor Esteban completely heartbroken.

Fast forward to a few years later, Esteban is now a journalist and he's assigned to interview Xabi Alonso about his latest book, an autobiographical novel dealing with his struggle with depression and alcoholism. The two meet again, but Xabi is now a completely different person. As a matter of fact, he's exactly how Esteban had imagined he would be all those years ago before they

So, Manu and Benni had a very lovely bromance in Schalke, but then Manu left to Munich straight after the last NT game. Now, they are meeting each other for the first time since (in anon head at least), after both teams had a less then desired first match, and Benni already confirmed they talked about 'personal issues' and not the games.

So, please write me whatever went on/is going on between these two. I'll take angst, I'll take fluff, I'll take UST, whatever. Just please cure my Manu/Benni fix.

I do agree, there are never enough fic involving Germans! Unfortunately I'm a slow writer, so it may be a while, sorry, op.

Xabi Alonso self-destructing, Cristiano catches him

Xabi is suffering from a lot of anxiety and to cope with that he engages in self-destructive behavior. The author can choose how he does this, maybe alcohol abuse, ignoring his family and other responsibilities, secretly and obsessively visiting a male prostitute or cutting himself. It doesn’t really matter as long as it’s bad and destructive.

He still keeps up a good front in front of his friends and teammates and none of them seem to notice there’s something wrong with him. None, except Cristiano…

Nice and angsty please! The reason Cristiano finds out about Xabi can be because Cris has a bit of a crush on him, but that’s not necessary. It can also be a genfic.

As for why Xabi has this anxiety, it could be because he’s just struggling with hiding his homosexuality or maybe something has happened in his past (in Liverpool?) that he’s run away from and it’s now catching up to him. It’s up to the author to fill in as they please :)

Wow! I really really like this - not only cause it deconstructs perfect!Xabi so nicely, but because... man. What an unlikely pairing, but I can totally see it work, both as genfic or slash. Given all the shit Cris has gone through with the press and his private life, I can see he'd be able to both see the signs and be stubborn and forward enough to help.

Goodness, two wonderful Xabi prompts in one day! Plus it's sunny outside. Someone pinch me, please.
