My contribution to the issue, because I owe it to some of my favorite artists.

So, because I got tired of my F-List going on about the recent LJ fuck-up again (targetting fan artists this time), I went and wrote them another letter, as I did the first time. I understand that it's easier for me to be impartial to the whole thing, for I do not draw fan art, thus have nothing to worry about, really, but I find it's affecting a lot of my friends and favorites fests, so I decided to keep my conscience clean and exercise my right of bitching out LJ because I pay for it, and write them this:

Hello, dear Livejournal!

Me again! I wrote you a letter using this thing the last time you fucked up (the 2007 Strikethrough), expressing my opinions and concerns in the politest possible way. This time, I don't know whether I'm going to be able to mantain that same etiquette, but I'll try.

After a major fuck up just a couple of months ago, I would think you wouldn't repeat it quite so quickly. When you owned up the first time and fixed everything, I was ok with forgiving you and moving on. NOW, I am not planning on doing so.

Once again, you're deleting accounts without telling people first of their offense, or giving them a chance to fix it. And yes, you made a vague announcement just around Harry Potter came out, didn't you? Just around the time that 99% of the biggest fandom on LJ was avoiding the Internet like the plague. But I guess you didn't know that, right? Oops. Once again, you are ridding people (with PAID and PERMANENT accounts as well) to fix whatever it is you imagine is wrong with them. So for some people, that's years of their life miraculously gone from the net because you decided you couldn't be assed to deal with it like people.

Now let's move on to WHY you're doing this again, shall we? Yes, I am aware of the paranoid USA federal law that states no minor can be portrayed in an explicit sexual manner. I am also aware that that law has more loopholes than can be imagined.

But that is not the main problem. The main problem is that LJ is a GLOBALLY popular site - that signifies your popularity and success, don't fuck it up! Which means that I, as a paid member who lives in Canada, do not want to be affected by yet another stupid US law. Neither do people who live in Australia, England, Russia, or Spain, all countries you have quite a few members from, no? I understand you are an American based site, but you should take into consideration the people you are dealing with. Believe me, if Livejournal only consisted of people who lived in US, it would be a quite poor, not to mention sad, site.

I do not draw fan-art (most people who draw it are targetted this time around, right), but I am SICK and TIRED of reading this "let's go on strike with LJ yet again" all over my F-List. I am SICK and TIRED of people I care about leaving LJ because they cannot deal with their shit anymore. And I was infuriated to find out that my friends' LJ was deleted because you THOUGHT she drew minors, but she didn't, because she herself is morally against it, and only draws pornographic images of adults.

I don't pay you for this shit. By investing money into this site, I show trust and respect for you, and I absolutely expect the same. Fucking up majorly on a regular basis is NOT respect, deleting people's LJs without telling them OR even making sure your reasons are plausible is NOT respect, and having a VAGUE TOS is not respect either.

Your TOS says something like "if we think something is breaking the rules we reserve the right..." No. You tell us what would make you think that. Obviously, most people don't trust your judgement anymore, beacause you have none.

Well, I guess we all know that being a snarky bitch is not an ability I lack. I really just want everything to go back to normal, for people to STOP talking about it and continue to write porn as usual, and for LJ to fuck themselves with a pineapple and all.

bitching, lj stuff
