So: medicine at UCL. I'm based mainly at the Whittington in Archway, which is good - lots of alcoholics, tuberculous patients and people who can't speak any English. challenging when you're a first year clinical student and expected to clerk as many new patients as possible! really though, it's fab although I'm still learning how to be confident on the wards and approach consultants and not feel like I'm in the way.
I think I've put Cambridge to bed now. London is fabulous, especially living in such an amazing flat in Belsize Park we've definitively outflatted the other transfers and are paying less in a lot of cases! come visit, people - I'm such a hostess! went up to Cam last week for a friend's birthday but wasn't too unhappy to be leaving and going back to London. Cambridge has kind of come with me anyway, with the 40-odd transfers coming along with us. to be honest there's at least one I'd much rather have stayed in Cambridge like I thought he might have done.
we all hang out in the medics' bar on Huntley St and it's just like being at Cindies again. not sure if that's a good thing...!
working at HMV Hampstead at the weekends - it's awesome. I'm getting paid to sit on the till, chat to people about music, choose the music being played...and I get freebies. and 30% off. and there are loads of celebrities round there so lots of stalking opportunities when they come in.
being at the hospital all day is rewarding but so tiring. gastro clinic (including a rectal exam) on 4 hours' sleep and a hangover at 9am this morning was an interesting experience...
