Well, where do I begin? May Week has been cool..and I passed all my exams, so no September retakes for me! Wooo..
And I think all the medics and vets in Newnham first year passed all three subjects so we are definitely on our way to doing well I hope - it would be nice for us to get higher in the tables, especially considering we jumped from 24th (out of 34) to 12th last year...let's acknowledge the power of a women's college - or something..
So I'm happy anyway, although bloody hot! Had to pack all of today because going down tomorrow, which is all very sad - I'm gonna miss Lisa and Bee and Dave so much! And my mother might just slowly drive me mad....
On the plus side, been to many things, like the May Ball on Tuesday night which was AWESOME and we were right at the front of the survivors' photo! And the best things were champagne on tap all night, the KAISER CHIEFS playing in one of the marquees, being able to chill, being with Dave and the fact that his room is about 2 seconds' walk from the photo area so we could go straight to sleep afterwards (thank god for that is all I can say, considering one of the worst things was stupidly wearing 6 inch stilettos all night that starting killing my feet IN THE QUEUE...and the ball went on til 6am...and the one time I did take one shoe off, I got glass embedded in my foot. Nice). I bought the survivors' photo and I think it's really cool. I love Cambridge! If only there was no work all year...
OH and the fireworks at the ball were amazing! We'd gone up on one of the Queens' roofs the night before to watch the Trinity ball fireworks but I think the ones on Tuesday were even better - and they totally beat the John's ones we could see across from us along the Backs..
Woah this is far too Cambridgey, no-one will understand what the Backs or the coolness of the balls etc...What else has been going on? Lots of Pimms and strawberry eating of course. Lots of packing - grrr..
Oh I had an argument with Dave a couple of nights before the ball - our first argument - I was overtired because we'd been paintballing ALL DAY, then we had a garden party and then we were supposed to go out to another party...unsurprisingly I ended up in uncontrollable tears, then slept over at Dave's, made up the next morning and ended up with the PUFFIEST eyes I'd ever seen - it was awful; I had to walk back to Newnham in sunglasses! Luckily, Imo's treatment with witch hazel seemed to do the job - and my treatment with arnica during paintballing stopped any bruises appearing two days before the ball - thank god!
Although I have the streakiest legs ever, having decided to put fake tan on them for the ball and not realising that a) it gets darker and b) it WILL NOT COME OFF DAMMIT...Gr. I've been advised to put whitening toothpaste on them, then wash them and shave my legs. It may sound stupid, but I'm willing to try anything at this stage!
Beki and Tom were supposed to be up today, and Luke was supposed to be coming to Newnham Garden Party...but I haven't seen any of them *confused* I shall see them when I get home anyway. And start working again, and see lots of people - and then go festivalling in Ireland - yay!
Right. Update can finish here for a while. I get my Tripos results on 30th June...I'd love a 2i...Dave's gonna check for me, he's up til 20th August :) He should be here soon, went to a party past the train station which is a bloody long way away but said he wouldn't stay long; he didn't do as well in his exams as he'd hoped so I doubt he's up for much partying anyway...unless he's drowning his sorrows :(:(:(
