Just got back from the haymarket in Boston. I wish I could go there more often; it's so much fun. Squeezing through crowds of people through the shouts of prices from every direction, and the sweet smells of overflowing troughs of fresh fruits and vegetables. Then there's the really good pizza place, the little cheese shop that's been there forever and has just about every type of cheese ever (and the strong cheese smell is nearly dizzying), the butcher shop that's also been there forever, and the fish place where instead of getting a piece of swordfish for $14-17 per pound, you can get a big, beautiful, incredibly fresh piece for only $3 a pound. Of course the prices of the produce are incredible too...so low that you can keep buying and buying until you've burnt a real hole in your pocket. But no matter. It's all delicious. My parents and I also walked around the North End for a bit, grabbed a fresh baguette and some gelato. It got pretty hot out so now I'm a bit gross and sweaty, but it was so delightful, and now I'm going to wash up before meeting Sunny in Concord.
Maybe I've been watching too much British television or something, but today I said the phrase "If we happen to get a bit peckish" and my parents where like WHUTT? Obviously they knew what I meant, but they were just confused by my choice of words.
