An actual post for a change...

We spent today with my mother's cousin and her family out on the coast - they came over from England for a holiday, and we met up with them in the cousin's brother's summerhouse. There were three generations present (except not on our side, since the girls are on holiday in Copenhagen for the week), and we had lunch together, went for walks, and/or swam in the pool. The weather was really grey and pretty windy, but it was a nice day regardless.

It was really good to catch up with my mother's cousin and her daughter (who was like a cousin to me when we were little) - they're both creative and I was happy that I'd brought my sketchbooks along, so I could share some of my recent drawings. My mother's cousin is a tapestry weaver and does really wonderful work. Her daughter is going into textiles as well now, after having worked as a speech therapist for years, and is currently at art college in Bath.

I managed to get one sketch done while we were out there, in the after-lunch-apathy of people lounging about on the couch, drinking coffee and tea. I drew John, my mother's cousin's husband (who is english and the reason the family lives there). John is somewhere in his mid or late 70ies, and a pretty handy watercolour painter himself. He told me he's been moving into bolder more colourful paintings lately - perhaps I'll get a chance to see some of them if I ever get around to visiting.

This is in my little hand-bag sketchbook, which has rather thin pages - I kind of like how you can glimpse the drawings on the other pages through the paper. I'm still experimenting with the markers/pens in colour, and I think this came out pretty good.

A nice day, with only a few incidents of grief, and now I'm realy tired.
