So, the people on my flist are doing that thing where they all talk about the wank, but nobody actually says what is going on. They will tell me their thoughts on the current wank, but not what the wank is.
SO, I put on my plucky girl detective hat and clicked on some links and joined up all the dots, and here is what, as far as I can tell, happened.
Some person or persons had a "fansite" for Jensen Ackles. (Possibly it was an lj comm. Unclear.) Sarcastic quotation marks because evidently this site was dedicated to pointing out how retarded he was - yes, positing that Jensen is actually developmentally disabled - and documenting all the evidence, presumably in the form of unflattering pictures and interviews in which his social awkwardness came out to play.
Jensen Ackles - or, more probably, his management, publicity people, or his mother - googled him and found this "fansite."
Jensen Ackles or persons representing him sent a C&D notice to the people with the website, because oddly enough, some people are offended by people calling them retarded. (Watch out, capslock_spn)
Owner of the site, makes a long post about how unfair it is, because in the face of all the evidence, she and her comrades love Jensen Ackles and admire his work and him as a human being and don't actually think he's retarded, it was all just a great big elaborate joke, couldn't they tell? In fact, these guys are Jensen Ackles' biggest fans, because they put all that time and effort and love into the site. About him being retarded.
The lawyers were unmoved by this heartfelt plea, strangely.
And then people talked about it, like, a lot.
