Im not a big sitcom watcher (which is funny with Modern family being on there) and even tried watching HIMYM and can't get into things with laugh tracks since they tend to annoy me more than anything else.
Though I have heard nothing but good things about Big Bang...should I try a few episodes out?
Yes you should! It makes me laugh, and I hate sitcoms. The laugh track IS a bit overused, but I can deal with that because of the overabundance of nerd humor.
So, I just got hooked on the (new) Doctor Who. I got to Doc 11 and then had to go back and rewatch 9 and 10 because, let's face it, I fucking love Doc 10 and I just wasn't ready to let him go yet. <3 David Tennant forever.
But! I'm super excited to see you're watching this because the last episode with 10 - the End of Time - reminded me So MUCH of Roland in DT. Actually, the Doctor just reminds me of a (nicer) Roland in general. The bit where he's told that he turns his friends into weapons, though. So so SO made me gasp and really emotionally relate to it. Because he's like Roland in that way.
Anyway, just wondering if I'm the only DT geek who sees 10 that way! I also think it's funny that you and I totally overlap on shows like whoa. I love Who and Lost (SG1 and Atlantis, Buffy too, but I don't know that you've seen all those)all for very similar reasons that I love DT. I love the concept of the katet and all those shows definitely use that trope. :)

I love Amy Pond from the new seasons, she and Rory are some of the best companions to come along in a long time (then again I really liked what Donna became as she grew).
You know now that you mention it 10 does kinda seem a bit like Roland...and there is a lot of talk in the new series with 11...well I don't want to give it away but your analogy actually is very spot on! There is even an early episode in which AHH! JUST START WATCHING 11 and then we need to talk about it! ;)
I haven't seen Buffy but we watched Atlantis and pretty much all of SG1 :D Sci Fi geeks forever right?
Don't like Amy and Rory too much, I've heard they're not coming back next season (which pissed me off. If they get someone like friggin' ROSE again I am going to scream and throw a tantrum and then watch it anyway, but angrily).
Re: OooohfoolonthehillSeptember 26 2011, 18:30:31 UTC
I hate Rose, maybe I am just to old school who (let me preen up by saying that I was lucky to watch original who on Denvers PBS stations growing up :D) to think that the doctor would have a relationship like that with someone that she did nothing but grate my nerves. I was really happy when Donna came along and just kinda played off of him but didn't "LOVE" him
Iiiiii love Doctor Who. Breaking Bad is filmed here and is supposed to be super, but I've never seen it because just reading the plot makes me not want to watch it.
How about that last episode of Doctor Who? I think... I should find a cyber rat and let it loose in my best friend's house just to really freak her out. That and maybe hide an Angel in a corner somewhere. She'd flip out, and it would be fantastic.
I keep seeing commercials for this new show called Terra Nova... which is apparently full of dinosaurs. Have you heard of that one?
Breaking Bad can be a hard show to watch. Seriously its amazing, but its pretty darned real and hardcore, so its totally not for everyone (though I still try to get people into it :D)
I really liked the last episode! I wasn't sure I would from the previews, but yeah I liked the idea that it played on people's faith and the whole praise him was nice and creepy
I have heard of Terra Nova, its something like people get sent back in time to restart humanity or something...with dinos or something. Heh if you can't tell I haven't seen it ;)
Oh heeeeey, did you not see this last weekend's episode? That's the one I was talking about. That reference to Cyber Rats must have seemed somewhat cryptic.
I really enjoyed the tail end of the other episode. Without spoiling it for others... I totally called "That thing is not speaking of itself," before any of my friends! Har. That episode WAS nice and creepy.
