Follow along with me in this purely hypothetical situtation:
If someone important to you were to die, but make an agreement with you beforehand, such that you had permission to take some small part of their skin and tan it (if desired), turn it into human leather, and use it for some worthwhile endeavor (clothing, jewelry, talisman, etc.), would any of you want to do this?
Would it make a difference whether it was someone important to you, or would any human leather do? Is explicit permission for human leather more important to you than non-human leather? IE, the cow is not giving explicit permission, but many of us feel that is ok. Do we have different feelings about human body parts?
What other body parts would you want to use for crafty purposes? Knucklebones? Hair? Teeth?
What do you think?
(Note: again, this is purely hypothetical. I have every intention to live forever, so none of y'all will be getting my skin anytime soon. That being said, I think I would be happy to give parts of me to important objects after I die.)
