RFC - projects

Let me know te extent to which you are interested in any of the following projects:

1) I am interested in learning how to sew better than I already do. One method of doing this is plenty obvious - practice. However, for me at least, this leads to an interesting connundrum. Even more so than normal, all of the interesting stuff is for women (or for halloween, I suppose) and thus, if I want to follow a pattern, I can't usually find something that I really want to make. Or rather, I want to make clothes because they are things I can't buy, which in turn are often things I don't have a pattern for. So I make my own patterns and things end up, well, interesting. But not often very good, and certainly not what I had in mind. So, if you would be interested in having me make you a garment, and perhaps pay for materials and the like, then I think it'd be a good experience for me.

2) Movement. I am interested in starting a small class or one-on-one sessions teaching any of the following: Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, expressive martial arts, expanding your movement vocabulary and expressivity, integrating movement, emotions, thought, and spirituality, or perhaps some other things. Classes would most likely be in the early morning, though exact times, dates, frequencies, etc, are negotiable. If you're interested in getting some more information about this, talk to me.

3) Movement, part deaueauxxe (yeah, I speak french...) I am interested in combining dance and martial arts into a very performance based movement practice with significant martial aesthetic. If some of you would like to experiment with me and see what we come up with, I would love to entertain that idea. It would be beneficial if you had either martial arts or dance training already, as these meetings probably won't be that productive otherwise, but I'll be happy to teach you what I know if you are willing to explore also. Again, these will probably be in the early morning (when I have studio space) though I can see some evening work in a park if the weather is ok.

4) Finger painting. I want to have a finger painting afternoon sometime soon. Maybe this weekend. Stay tuned. Some of the art I recently made with finger painting was really awesome. I want it hanging on my wall, for a while at least, but it got demolished as part of the office construction we are doing.

5) Dance squad! Intention: gather a small heap of dancers that routinely practice together, go to clubs, maybe have semichoreographed elements or improvisational forms. I don't want to introduce performance to clubs yet. I just want to have a club dancing crew that really cares about dancing well. Of course all manner of trancelike and ecstatic states are well and good, and I encourage and seek them, but some times I just want to kick ass on the floor, and want to watch other people do the same. I'm not thinking the aggro "battle between crews" vibe, but if that comes up, I'll throw down.

6) Brainstorming on how to enact some culture-modification, further urban burner culture, break the normals out of their boxes, set the city moving a little more fluidly, causing a ruckus, etc. I'm not necessarily thinking full-on cacaphony society yet. We shall see.
