Yeah.... I hate fog, personally... so this is like... the worst weather ever. [She'd RATHER have rain, to be totally honest. At least then she'd just me miserable, not miserable and tense as a violin string wound too tight.]
We don't get much fog where I'm from. Smog, mostly. But yeah, this is pretty bad.
I...woke up. And, er, couldn't get back to sleep. [What a marvelous understatement. Don't pretend like you didn't sit around hyperventilating for thirty minutes because when you have nightmares, Phoenix, you have NIGHTMARES.]
Fog's kind of the trademark weather pattern in my neck of the woods. Nasty stuff...
N'yeah, me too.
[She hadn't hyperventilated so much as sat very still for a long period of time, eyes wide open and ears straining to hear any foreign sound. Like some kind of awkward, gangly rabbit.]
[Even outside of Silent Hill, foggy New England mornings were just status quo.][Normally Heather wouldn't have suspected anything, but... everyone she's talked to HAS seemed a little... pale...]
[FINALLY SOMEONE FROM THE UNITED STATES, there's a note of relief in his voice now, that eases the strained sound a bit.] California. Er, Southern California. You know, Los Angeles and Anaheim and all of that.
...is it just me, or does it seem like EVERYONE suddenly had...nightmares? [He's using the word a bit cautiously, since it seemed WAY to realistic for your average nightmare.]
Everyone's been awake, and...I mean, KAY was affected. And Kay's about as chipper as they come, y'know?
California, huh? I always did wanna go there. [Because god knew the land of sunshine and surfer dudes would suit her sleeveless lifestyle a lot more than cold, wet New England does.]
[Of course, she sobers up instantly at the mention of the 'n' word.]
... It's not just you. ... I mean. I guess not. ... I had a few. ... Y'know. Nightmares.
[And nightmares were nothing unusual, not for Heather. She'd been having them for a whole year now, and she'd gotten used to the simple fact that some nights were going to be spent shivering and watching TV until the sun came up. That just came with the territory of being what she was.]
[But... this one... it had been the same, but it had felt so... there.]
[He chuckles a bit at that first response, then grins in a bit of a sardonic matter at the second.] I do, huh? And here I thought I was good at bluffing.
[She grins as cheeky a grin as she can manage right now and just shakes her head. Maybe he's good in court, but right now Phoenix has got a lousy poker face.]
[The grin doesn't last too long though.]
... Yeah.
I mean...
M'used to nightmares. I get 'em a lot, actually... n'they're always bad.
But... whatever the fuck this one was, I just...
[Even right now, she still thought she could feel something squirming inside of her... feel the rush of the fire as it licked over her skin...]
[HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE BUDDIES GO]

...seems like there's a lot of people who can't get back to sleep tonight. [And this is starting to make him juuust a bit suspicious.]

[Despite herself, she quirks a grin.]

...I'm sorry. They must have been pretty bad. You're pale as a ghost. [Like you're one to talk.]

[Phoenix's observation catches her a little bit by surprise and she laughs awkwardly, raking some of her ruffled hair behind one ear.]
I look that bad, huh? You're not much of a looker yourself at the moment...
But yeah.
Yeah, they kinda sucked.
