Two cool things happened today:
I have time to record one, then I have to go back to work. More on the second thing later.
Well it started off badly, with too many tables that all got seated at once, no air conditioning in my half of the restaurant (it's already 85 degrees here), no bread for the first 30 minutes of those tables' stay, etc disaster disaster etc.
Then John Wayne sauntered in. I'm not kidding. He was a professional John Wayne impersonator, and he was damned good at it. I think he even looked convincing enough to pass as him-- the picture doesn't even do the resemblance justice. I noticed that he and his family prayed over their meal, and the signed photo he gave me had a tiny caption of "John 3:16". Just about the only line I remember verbatim from the bible, back when I actually cared for religion. On impulse, I got a signed photograph of him for my mom-- Jody, who I haven't spoken with in years. She's a big fan. I think I'll mail it to her anonymously.
And then? His son left me a 30 dollar tip.
