A good Saturday with my mates

Saturday March 3rd Hilary, Michelle and I decided to go to the Strand.  We left around 1:30ish and the bus actually stopped at this spot where you only had to walk about 5 minutes to get to the Rockpool instead of the usual 40 minute walk.  On the bus we ran into Brian and Ben so we walked there with them.  Well, Ben hobbled because he had injured his foot and was using a crutch.  We split up and Hil, Shell andI walked to the Rockpool, put our stuff down and jumped in.  The Rockpool is a huge "pool" of filtered sea water so you dont have to worry about marine stingers or any other deadly marine wildlife.  The water felt so nice.  Shell got out after a little whlie and Hilary and I stayed in and swam.  Brian and Ben were in the water by then and because the water was a bit murky you couldnt see under.  So, Hilary and I had a plan.  We swam up relatively close, but far enough that they wouldn't really notice us too much.   Hilary took a deep breathe and swam underwater while I floated and waited for what was about to happen.  All of a sudden Brian jumped up out of the water and screamed... it was hilarious!  Hilary grabbed his ankle without him knowing.  Haha, he was like, "I thought you were a little kid I was going to stomp on you!"  But then again, why would you stomp on a little kid?  We got the idea because as we walked to the Rockpool Ben had been talking about how there had been crocodile warnings not to long ago for the entire Strand.  It really was priceless.

After that Hilary and I swam over to the railings and proceeded to try and slide down them.  Didn't work out as well as I thought, but still fun.  When we finally got out of the water all shrivled, we went to where Michelle was a decided to migrate all our stuff on a grass cliff where the view and breeze were amazing.  Shell brought her iPod speakers and we listened to music as we layed out in the sun.  It was perfect.  Finally around 5 or so, we gathered our things and walked down to Cold Rock, got ice cream and sat and ate it at the tables by the water.  Down on the beach you could see little crabs scurrying everywhere.  We walked all the way back to City Center and by this time it was 6 something.  We waited at this one spot for a bus... but it never came so we walked to the big bus station and finally got a bus.  By the time we got back to Uni it was 7:30 so we had missed tea.  After showers we decided we'd try this place called Irish Finnegans because we were given cards to get 6 dollar meals there.  Hil called a taxi and 16 dollars later we were there.   We went into the resturant and were seated.  We told the waitress about the cards we had and she was like, "oh, uni students, you have to eat in the pub"  We were all like, um, okay, odd and got up and walked into the pub... which by the way had no where to sit and was full of crazy drunk people.  Hil, Shell and I were not so thrilled with that, so we left and walked across the parking lot to a place called Fasta Pasta.   I ordered Ravioli Riccotta Avacado... so goood!!!  They gave us bread, and we didnt realize they were going to do that so Hil had ordered garlic bread as well.  We were so hungry we gobbled it all up!  After dinner we headed out to find a bus stop.  When we found it we waited about 30 minutes until the bus came.  We asked if he was going to Uni and he was like, no, I'm going to Kelso, but wait on the other side of the road at the bus stop and I'll be back to pick you up.  So, we waited... for 45 minutes.  It was pretty amusing though, 2 cars with guys drove by, both of which went to turn into a parking lot but they were looking at us and drove up onto the curb, haha.  Shell was like, high five ladies, we're good.  But anyway, the bus finally came back and we had to take that bus to Stockies and then wait for yet another bus.  The wait there was bout 20 minutes or so and we entertained ourselves by singing Build Me Up Buttercup.  What we had originally thought would be a short outing for food turned out to take place from 8:30 to 11:45, haha, but it was fun, so no worries.

Sunday we just chilled around the dorms, waited for people to get back from their field trips and what not.  Then that night I hung out in Hils room and watched CSI Miami and CSI Las Vegas.  They have tons of American shows over here, but the seasons are slightly behind.

Overall a good weekend :-)
