...is the scariest game I've ever (seen) played. Josh wouldn't let me sit next to him, because my surprised and/or panicky screams were just too loud. So I had to sit back, on the other side of the couch.
I did come forward to help him hack. The game uses Pipedream as a mechanic for hacking objects (sentry bots, turrets, vending machines, etc). Basically you have to successfully build a pipe from the inflow valve to the outflow valve in the time alloted - by flipping over "hidden" tiles and trading in the pieces you need (and the really hard ones have little explosion tiles, too). So hacking the hard stuff, like safes, required team effort. And you know, I never actually play these horror games. I co-pilot and navigate. I tell the player where to go, I spot items (and murderous crazies who are rushing at us with wrenches or worse), etc. And yes, I scream. The game is crazy good.
I guess on some level crazed maniacs aren't as scary as zombies (seriously, being eaten and possibly turned into a zombie is WAY worse than being shot, or bludgeoned to death, etc). But somehow, in the creepy underwater city where everyone is crazy, dead, or no longer human...somehow that seems scarier. Maybe because I'm afraid of the water, too. ;)
Anyway, everyone with a PC (or an Xbox 360) should try it!
