The brood is coming

It was a good weekend. I can't remember all of what I did - not because I got drunk or anything (although, admittedly, I was intoxicated for a great deal of saturday night), but because it seems that several days passed in a speedy blur, and I can't seem to differentiate one day from another.

So instead, in no particular order, last week and this past weekend I: did some packing, did some shopping, (actually, did a LOT of shopping), got all gussied up for the 70's disco party extravaganza (happy birthday, Kiki! You haven't OD'd yet!) - got my disco on, got a little fucked up, and generally had a good ole time.

Yesterday I went to a friend's birthday lunch, and then went over to the new house to garden with Erica (owner). It was fun. It was nice to get to know her a little, and she introduced me to two of my new neighbors, which was awesome. There's a huge community on Church St. - I guess EVeryone has a dog ("It's a requirement," one of the neighbors joked), and all the neighbors watch each other's animals (and houses) when people go on trips. And they share plants around in their gardens. It's crazy cool. Erica gave the neighbors some irises (you have to thin them out because they multiply like crazy, apparently), and I'll be receiving a peony bush at some point. It was good to learn which plants were actually wanted plants, and which were weeds. Later that evening, Rin came over to commiserate the absence of our menfolk, which was relaxing and pleasant and good.

Speaking of, after over a week, Josh is finally going to come home tonight. Yay! Only 12 hours until I see him!

So, minervaish, you'll get a kick out of this (but I'm horrified) - Brood XIII is coming. Can I say just how UNhappy I am about this?! They better not devour all my rosebushes, that's all I've got to say. Ok. That's not all I've got to say - I mean...they come up out of the ground. By the millions! Like...zombies, sorta. Except presumably not undead (although they've been in stasis for 17 years!) I hope that we're too far south here...I know Chicagoland's in some trouble, but I'm holding out hope that we might escape the swarm.
