Great thanks to
Hellsjester. He introduced me to
Hendrick's Gin, which I promptly purchased and am currently enjoying (that's about 4 glasses of enjoyment, kids). He and the lovely
Hexadamsel
had me over to dinner the other night for roast beast. Excellent stuff.
The former's current obsession with
Alton Brown is working to my great
advantage.
It occurred to me recently that I have it pretty good. I don't have
a byline on the
front page of the LA Times
(Ron, if you're out there,
congratulations! We all knew you were headed for greatness), but I do
have great friends and a fairly nice job
doing something I enjoy (although a certain someone will be returning
from maternity leave in a couple weeks...I'm trying not to think about
it). I think everyone needs to experience this kind of epiphany every
once in a while. If you don't occasionally realize how fortunate you
are,
you're prone to loss of perspective and irrational depression. I know
no one who doesn't have
something to be thankful for. I know several people who don't seem to
realize what they have. Everyone forgets sometimes; that's normal. I
just think it's very important to remember from time to time.
I don't usually do the Live Journal update thing, but I'm here. I've
been reading what all of you have been saying. You're terrific and it
makes me happy to hear that you're well. Thanks.
