The ok Body

I didn't much care for that Eve Ensler play I went to. The audience had to have been at least 90% female. I was uncomfortable. I found the bulk of the subject matter extremely depressing and, needless to say, I didn't laugh in the "right" places. In addition, I was feeling down before I even entered the theater so I'm afraid the whole experience was doomed to begin with.
I met her after the show. I shook her soft hand (too soft, like a little girl's or a very old woman's) and told her I was impressed by her energy. This was true enough and I felt it would be inappropriate (that and I didn't have the balls) to tell this woman anything less than enthusiastic praise about her show. I was astounded by how tiny she is offstage. It was a one-woman show, so there was no point of reference to reveal her small stature. She can't be much over 5'2", but she seemed quite a large presence under the lights.
