Jumping jee willickers its been a long time since I've updated this. I don't even check it much anymore, let alone do I expect anyone else to check if I update.
I went to see a great concert tonight. Rock Plaza central (Evalyn Perry opened and she is wonderful too). Rock Plaza was great but their mix wasn't very good. They do a lot of vocal harmonies that rattle your insides and give me goosebumps.
Their lyrics are simple but poignant. They have two mantras that I enjoy and which are now stuck in my head. The first is "be joyfull, my children be joyfull" the other is "we've got a lot to be glad for"
I think both are great but it is the later that strikes me this evening. It seems to me that we all have so much to be glad for but rarely to we stop to appreciate that fact. There is so much going on in this world. So much shit transpires around our homes, in the streets or simply at a distance on the news. The world is falling apart and we are playing politics with the solutions to ending the degradation of our environment, stopping violence in homes and in war. We value oil more then lives and we care more about image then we do about improving the quality of life for those less fortunate. Image is everything trust your thirst.
While this gripe session sounds to be a dig at humanity and a pretentious attempt to pretend that I am above all the shit that stops us from improving our world, it is not. I truly believe that it is only by juxtaposition that we can truly understand what we have and why we ought to be thankful. WE HAVE A LOT TO BE GLAD FOR!!!!
Despite all the hate, the fear, the degradation of others and the ignorance that we foster and harbour in our communitiees the grand scheme of things of improving.
I for one have too many people who love me and challenge me, and teach me how to be a better person and how to serve other. Without these people I would perhaps not be so confident in agreeing with Rock Plaza in saying " we have a lot to be glad for", but we certainly do.
