I made a wonderful layered cabbage dish in the slow cooker the other night for dinner. I got the recipe from the Just Hungry blog:
http://www.justhungry.com/japanese-layered-cabbage-casserole-kyabetsu-no-kasaneni It might seem like an odd combination of ingredients but the end result was a perfect winter meal. It was easy enough to put together in the morning and I left it in the slow cooker all day.
Pictures of food.
Since I've been on an asian kick lately I also made Thai Chicken Soup - Tom Kha Gai. This is one of my favourite winter treats.
The recipe is from Cook's Illustrated.
So yummy! Coconut milk, chicken broth simmered with lemon grass, cilantro and shallots. Strained then added sugar and more coconut milk. When simmering added mushrooms, chicken, lime juice, fish sauce, chili oil, thai red curry paste. Served and garnished with more cilantro and chili oil, some minced green onions and a squeeze of lime.
Of course the soup just doesn't taste right with out Cock Sauce!
Apologies if the cut doesn't work!
