Christmas Wreath Doughnuts

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.

I made these Christmas Wreath Doughnuts by baking a batch of chocolate cake in a doughnut pan, then decorating them with Wilton's leaf tip #352, and piping the berries and ribbons on with a #4 tip. Keep your icing soft, because you'll need your hands to still work when it comes to eating one when you're done decorating.

Baked Chocolate Doughnuts

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp melted butter or oil (I usually use oil)
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup lukewarm water

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F.

Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl, and stir until well mixed.

Make 3 wells in the mixture, filling the first with melted butter/oil, the second with vinegar, and the third with vanilla

Pour water over mixture and mix thoroughly with a fork. Spoon batter into a greased doughnut pan, and bake for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before removing!
