At Hancook restaurant located on the 1st level of the tower, diners can look out over Seoul as they enjoy traditional Korean cuisine in surroundings which blend antique Korean beauty with modern convenience. The most popular choice at Hancook is the buffet, offering a selection of 30 different Korean delicacies.
This Wednesday I took a cable car and then a fast elevator to the top of the N Seoul Tower.
The classy and panoramic Hancook Restaurant
The beef was really quite good, but the buffet was what made the place.
That and the rice wine
We did wind up sharing everything, so I had a little sample of each dish
This one was obviously a popular choice at the table
Traditional food served this high up in the air gets the fancy-plate treatment
I attacked the buffet, loading up with seafood and spicy
jellyfish, cuttlefish (eaten with the nori/rice rolls), spicy dumpling, a cute little prawn, steamed pork topped with tiny salty dried shrimps, some form of black and squishy sausage, a few sea-flavored snails, braised baby octopi, rice cakes, pan-fried lotus
After dinner I skipped dessert and hit the buffet again to fill in the corners with some favorites... and a few lychees...
...I think I could eat a pound of lychees.
Typically, I'm not a huge fan of fancy-pants places - I'm more comfortable down at street level. But, the N Tower is gorgeous, the food was delicious, the company and conversation was fun, and the view from the table:
ain't half bad.
