Not the OP but I'm assuming they held in with their hand in the thumbs down position which ended up covering the brand by accident.

sometimes people forget to hold the can upright, and end up holding it horizontally which i think can effect the outcome?

I wonder... I did try to follow the "instructions" on the can, since I hadn't used it before. I think the can was probably old/from last Halloween or something :(

Ah thank you for that. I found it came out really liquidy too. I didn't think it would be as black as the picture on the can (lol) but I was hoping for more of a mist than what I got. I will give it a try again using your advice! I still think I got an old can from like, last Halloween though. Ugh.
