BBQ Issue

Is there any way to make barbecue chicken without a grill? I've had a craving for some, but I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow grills. I've tried searing the chicken in a frying pan, brushing barbecue sauce each time I turned it, but more was burned off than covered the chicken. Marinating and baking does no good, as the sauce thins and slips off the meat.

Should I just bake the chicken and toss it in sauce after? Or is there some secret way I'm just not getting?

I'm not asking for recipes... just my fellow pornista's advice on my technique to produce more pr0n!
