meatloaf, meatloaf- double beet-loaf.

ahhhh, meatloaf.

meatloaf is one of those things that i never quite get over. it was one of my absolute most hated food products when i was a child, but... ohh... in my pseudo-adulthood, how i adore it. my mother, who is a fabulous gourmet cook (sort-of), seems to lack the ability to make normal foods that are JUST NORMAL. i mean, everything is fancy. everything has forty ingredients. everything has rosemary. i mean, i guess that is all well and good- sometimes gourmet is awesome. sometimes, though- sometimes you just want a nice juicy turkey with stuffing- not cornbread/walnut/sage dressing (that is always bone dry). sometimes you want a meatloaf with a freaking KETCHUP glaze. nothing fancy. although, i did mix sriracha with the ketchup in said glaze tonight, it was still... simple. timeless. it was not a recipe from a restaurant or a chef or anything, it was a recipe from "joy of cooking".

speaking of simplicity, that's another thing that really doesn't let me down. they always have the right idea, and if i tweak these things just a little, ta-da! it's like i almost invented my own recipe or something. plus, the copy i have tells you how to A) carve up a whole cow, and B) make dinner while still having time to do your hair (makeup, too!) and put out your man's slippers before he gets home. seriously.

sometimes, simple wins.

my hair still looks like crap, though.
