Wedding Pie

I want to make my own wedding cake, except I want it to be a wedding pie. A pumpkin pie to be exact.  The problem is that I'm not much of a baker.  Ask me to make duck confit and I'm there. Ask me to bake a pie and I'm dumb-founded.

I want it to lok like a cheesecake though (see sketch behind cut)so I figure I can use one of those deep pans with the snap thing on the side and just cut out the pie crust to fit the bottom and put the pumpkin pie filling on top?  Would that work?

I've also never made pumpkin pie. Any great recipes for the filling?

I think my biggest challenge will be the decoration.  We have somewhat of an argyle theme (on invitations and seating chart) and I want to carry that over to the pie so we were thinking of having two diamonds and then the lines going through those on top of the cake and then having the lines go over the edge and down the sides.

I have no idea how I'm going to do this, I want the lines to be straight and smooth.  What can I make them out of?
