In the piece I'm currently working on, I have a family who has just moved to Oklahoma (I'm thinking a suburb outside Tulsa for the exact location) from Maryland. Are there any regional foods (particularly ones that would intrigue a rahter spacy seventeen-year-old girl) that I could include? Examples of what I'm looking for are things akin to the Derby Pies and Mint Juleps of Louisville, KY.
Additionally, the family is rather strange. Do any of you have a super off-the-wall recipe for something your typical Oklahomans (or any Americans, for that matter) might be fascinated, disgusted, etc. with?
