It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word
Often when we think back on the feelings we've had (for someone perhaps?), and found that it all was a waste in the end, we just discard the thought because we consider it as a mistake. Because when you think of the thought, the person comes up, and there's no avoiding it. And with that, you remember that you've wasted so much time over someone so arrogant, or ignorant. It's usually the negative things that makes it signature on the memory, if it ended in the way you didn't want it to.
But the most important thing about it isn't how it ended, it's what happened in between. How those feelings made you change in a way, and how you felt like you were glowing everyday, just because that someone probably thinks you are. It's how it gave you something to look back on and smile about, and the good, unforgettable events that came with it. That's what makes a memory. The end only marks where it stops, so you can make a whole new different one.
Do you remember how it feels like when it all started?
It's like fire. It just ignites and illuminates everything. It has an effect on almost everything you do. Things seem better, and days seem much brighter because of it. And the fire serves as that spark of newly-found hope that you can depend on. It's that unexplainable feeling that makes you appreciate every little thing even more, just because you're appreciating something even bigger.
But eventually, the fire dies out for some. Until it's just the scent of it that's left. The cloud of smoke that rises as if to grieve with the fact that it's gone. And after a while, even that disappears until everything's back to the way it used to be. People move on, and somehow, it is forgotten. It just becomes one of those memories where either you were stupid, or you didn't know how things were back then the way they were now.
Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
You know how you felt, and it's undeniable. And that's what makes it a memory and entirely unforgettable.
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes
