And so, it proceeds.

Right, so the waters of the Brisbane River are abating and some of the sordid truth comes out as to why the fuck this even happened. Though, it starts with the last floods, tbh.

Okay, so after the floods of 1974, the Queensland Government built the Wivenhoe dam, to stop this ever happening again. That all well and good, it was needed.

But this country wasn't finished torturing us, because bam, a few years a long, we're on a eight year drought. Like, we have a water level restriction, during normal times, it was at like 2? For the last years of my high-school, it was stuck at 8. And I know where I lived in the suburbs at the time, they would periodically turn off the water. (This was Brisbane at least...)

So since Wivenhoe was one of the major dams (and still is, obviously, we would of run out of water without it) they let it fill up beyond the standard, legal level in a attempt to keep the water going for as long as possible.

Then out of the fucking no where this country decides that this year, it really wants to have the summer monsoon that they always talk about tropical and sub tropical countries having, and dump all the water that we haven't had for the last... five or six years since... if I were to be truthful, around my since around birthday... so early mid spring (I put it there, because my birthday party got cancelled because of it >[ )

And I mean, it has been quiet literally pissing down rain for well over a few months now. Again, as I said here, my family caught the worst of the summer storms (as in it was more... typhoon winds, etc, etc, as apposed to severe rain... the rain came later (the week of christmas, actually, when my parents went north, I spent the whole time redigging trenches under my house so it fucking didn't flood... as much as it could of. A foot or water is better then three feet, at least...)) before Christmas. So all these little storms hit on and off, of varying levels.

Then about six inches of water fell in something like three hours.

And that Dam, that had been over filled to begin with couldn't handle that much water now, had to open the flood gates, too much, too fast and... Well, you know the rest.

The latest news I heard, the death toll is only at 15. That is 15 too many.

Again, please donate here.

I am going to try and volunteer, but I heard they are turning people down. :( I really want to help, I am so fucking frustrated that I can't.

halp pls, guh, argh!
