Title: The Fever of the Mind [or] Prometheus may have thieved the fire, but it can never be taken back.
Characters/Pairings: Washington, South Dakota, Texas, Maine/the Meta, York. Washington/South, Washington/Texas. Texas/The Director.
Summary: Washington realises only too late that the lines we draw are much harder to see in the dark, and somewhere along the path, Epsilon turned out all the lights. Now he is stumbling blind and he isn’t quite sure he wants to know where he is when the lights come back up.
Notes: From the first moment we met Wash, I kind of really loved him, and I was struck by him as a Prometheus. Prometheus is a name a lot of us know, and have a general idea of. It’s usually synonymous with enlightenment, but lesser known, the price we pay for it. There are two places the Myth is draw from. One is Hesiod’s Theogony. The other is a play, also dating to Ancient Greece, called Prometheus Bound. He stands both as Victim and Villain, praised and hated by both Gods and by Man. To the Gods chagrin however, the knowledge once given can never be taken back, and the person who did the taking is usually punished, as are other receivers of the gift. (I’ve included an abridged amalgamation of the two different versions of the Myth) Additionally, The Director is not Church. I just... need to make that distinction. Also before anyone shoots me for the Wash/Tex thing, I swear it’s not what you think it is! This is also that much beloved topic of Washington’s decent into madness. Lastly, the banner picture? The RvBFic website lets me have picture banners, its pretty so, which I love. Those are my hands, from one of my costume shin-digs. Thus why they are soft and girly and not Washington. Don’t hate meeeee, I couldn’t find anything else that felt like it fitted the theme of insanity, responsibility and... everything.
