Alright I have been meaning to write this for awhile, but I missed archery today because I have a vomiting bug so I thought now would be a good chance. I probably needed to write this ages ago, but eeeh. I will also update this with fics as I write them, or as people need them explained. In part I am doing this because the "I don't get it..." is feeling a wee bit tedious. P: Not that I don't love reviews, but hate that people aren't getting my message, which makes Lily a sad puppy.
Adding to these as I go.
On all my writing/fics.
I tend to write with one or two themes in mind. I'm also a one trick pony in this regard. I can only write a certain theme once. Normally my themes are about the metaphysical affecting the physical, or certain philosophies of mine getting explored. Usually I have sets of characters that I put with the themes. This is why I only really write Naruto anymore, because as much as there is hideous FAIL some issues in terms of character interaction and more often then not long term development in over view, when you examine the characters by themselves, they are actually quiet reasonable -- even how Pein turned. But whatever. That's another rant for another day. But I write Naruto because there are so many characters that I can balance out to the different philosophical/moral/metaphysical/physical dramas that I want to write about. This leads me to another point, a lot of these issues are very very very personal to me. Laced to Crown in particular. Heck even the YuGiOh YBakuraxAnzu, which I know a lot of people are going 'wtf, those are just straight out smut and angst' yeah well, art reflects life and all that. This isn't to say I can't handle people criticizing my work, because I can. I don't mind people saying that I've accidently got facts in cannon wrong, or that I've made spelling and grammar mistakes. I like to improve my writing in all ways. But I dislike people saying the moral dilemma's are stupid, because to me, they aren't. That bit I can't do so good. Actually it makes me quiet upset, which I know sounds like total waaaaangst to some people, but I honestly lack the ability to separate myself from my work in this way. infacticrysometimeswhenpeopleattackthem, pathetic, nay? Okay so thats the general stuff outta the way, I shall now briefly go into fics that people get major confusion from...

Theme is Hope. Second theme is Faith. Yeah, thats it more or less. Hope and the keeping of it, or the finding of it again. Pein, Konan and Sakura are different points in hope. Sakura starts with no hope/faith but gains it, Konan had it but lost it by the end of the story, and Pein is it always. This started out with Pein, and he is the main character, everything else to the main character. This is the straight product of about three things The
Gracchi Brothers (and all others like them, but specifically them as in my final year of highschool I had been learning about them, and they impacted upon me in a big way), The Killers Day & Age album and my own musing. It is about Heroes and what leads to the situation in which a Free-Thinking man becomes a Hero becomes a Martyr and the Martyr becomes a God . It was about that, that transition. Thus why there is no enemy but "the empire", which is faceless pretty much beyond Tobi and Kabuto. It is not about the bad guys, not even slightly. And that, ultimately when you make that transition, the only humanity you are allowed is dying. In fact, its why I used the Akatsuki, because I didn't believe Pein's plan was as ludicrous as people think it is, Pein recognized the truth of peace, it is achievable but not for long amounts of time. Konan realizes this and lets go of it, Sakura realizes this and cherishes it. Konan gives it to Sakura, really. She doesn't have it because she knows Pein and knows that he is just a man with a good acting ability. She had no place in the world Pein tried to make that wouldn't be to some degree detrimental (is also why I killed all of the Akatsuki). Pein more or less knew he was going to die from the get go. He knew it, and as I said in the story people had no idea about the cruelty that could be done, he by organizing rebellion, pushed the "empire" into "showing its true colours". He brought about the circumstances in which first suppression and then real change could happen. One that Tobi realized as well, and deliberately used Pein for. He was a catalyst, not the final result. Pein knew that and acted towards it, Konan did't think much of it and Sakura realized only too late, but kept her faith anyway because she needed to give it to her child.
That is more or less everything that I intended with Bitter Refuge.

Ahhh, this is the one that gets so many people confused. Main theme: Time. Second theme: Death. Third theme: Dreaming. I sum up the whole fic in that first story of Lao Tsu. This is about what is dreaming and where we draw the line. How much do dreams affect the reality, and how much does reality affect the dreams? The water symbolizes death per the old myths, he dreams of it, of being surrounded by it, of loving it almost. Time, time per Taoism theories, runs in circles. In short: Kurenai dreams of Itachi investigating her death and realizes she has to die. Itachi is investigating her death and realizes he causes her to die, by dreaming of her. Head asploded yet?
