[Today, Gelda can be found wandering the village. She's going to be making a few stops. Raine's house, for one. Next, she'll go check up on Nephry and Dist. Later that afternoon, she visits the bar to see if Guy is there

[A knock on the front door is definitely not what Dist was expecting, and it momentarily startles him from his reading and note-taking. He frowns, sets his book, notebook, and pen down, then goes to open the door. This better be good...]
[She's been meaning to check up on Dist ever since the little 'incident' that occured during the draft. After Nephry said that he still seemed upset, that need grew even moreso.]
[Upset more at himself for being so careless as to not notice poor Nephry sooner, and at the Malnosso for bringing her into battle in the first place. Dist nodded, putting on a small smile and moving aside so she could enter.]
Good morning. Please, come inside, Professor... What brings you here today? Could I get you something hot to drink? You must be cold, in that dreadful weather.
[He does indeed close and lock the door, then ushers them towards the living room so they could be more comfortable by the fire. He sits in the chair he was previously in before, crossing his legs.]
I suppose I've been well enough, given the state of things. I must thank you, Professor...for healing Nephry as well as you did before. She's doing very well now, thank to you.
Yes, I'm aware, but...I'm still glad it was you who was available, Professor. I don't think I could have trusted anyone else with Nephry's health, considering the damage done to her.
[He inhales deeply, exhaling after a moment.] Of course I'm equally glad you remained unharmed, of course.
Not at all, but you and I at least have some sort of military background, Professor. [Dist glanced up at Gelda for a moment, managing a quick smile.] Nephry's here, in fact, but I believe she's still resting to fully recover. I'm sorry, but I can't wake her...I hope you understand.
[Because he's pretty sure that's why Gelda came to visit. He's not the most social person out there, after all.]
Oh, that's alright. I can wait. [She ventures further into the house. Really, she can't deny that she needs to see Nephry, but that's no reason to just leave. She can spend some time with Dist until Nephry's awake.]
How about you tell me what you've been up to all this time? Are you keeping busy? [The hidden question here is: Are you making friends?]
Are you sure you wouldn't like anything, Professor? It's really no trouble at all. [He stands as well, but instead heads for the kitchen, to prepare some light finger foods at the least. And he can't deny he at least needs some caffeine to stay up and work tonight.
He lays everything out, waiting for Gelda to return before he answers her question.]
And I've kept busy enough, I suppose... Mostly taking care of Nephry for the moment, but I've been making plans to create...well, a weapon, unfortunately. For protection, you see. I hadn't wanted to, but with everything that has been going on recently, I think it's become a bit of a necessity.

[Gelda enters the living room after briefly checking in on Nephry and takes her seat by the fire again. Oh, look, snacks. People can't ever claim that Dist's a bad host. As she listens to his words, a frown starts to dawn on her face.]
GOD, MEOWZY, WAY TO FAILits_rose_damnitJanuary 4 2011, 23:04:12 UTC
[Dist was just sitting back down, looking down into his coffee mug with a deep frown. He takes a long sip and sighs.]
I've longed to believe no, but the possibility exists. You're well aware of the strength those ruffians we fought have, and their leader even seemed to join the fray this time around. Counting their numbers, and the fact that they have already established themselves as enemies of the Malnosso and capable of infiltrating their facilities...well, I believe they could very well breach the barrier one day.
And even if that's not the case, the everyday goings-on of Luceti, and the less than agreeable people and creatures within the village...I'd prefer to stay armed.
[Gelda nods lightly. The Third Party had infiltrated the barrier before. It was a long time ago and she hopes the Malnosso have increased their protection, but that isn't something to safely assume.]
Yes, I suppose that's very true... But out of curiousity, why not build a defense system? Why choose offense as a defense?
oh, fine, I forgive you. :\its_rose_damnitJanuary 6 2011, 20:03:04 UTC
To be perfectly honest, I had thought of doing something like that, but given the limited resources - not to mention fonons - present here, it's a bit more difficult to create a defense system to protect even one home. [He sighs. This piece of information still bothered him to this day.]
There's only so much even I can do, unfortunately... I can build a defense system in a large expanse of time, but powering it would be close to impossible. A small weapon would be easier to create and maintain. And to be perfectly frank... [He pushes up his glasses and looks off to the side.] I'd rather remove the problem than merely deflect it.
[She stops to consider this for a moment. It's a shame that talented people like Dist have to resort to making weapons when defensive technology could be put to far better use. There are plenty of non-combatants who would be better off with a defense system. The incident that had befallen Nephry proves as much.]
... Have you tried asking the Malnosso CEO for a power source, or better equipment?
Wha--oh, Professor Nebilim!

I'm fine, Saphir. I've just returned from visiting Raine. Now, I'd like to see how you are doing.

There's no need to thank me. You know I would've wanted to help, even if you hadn't asked me. I'm just glad Nephry is recovering.

Then, you believe the village might be attacked?
