[ The following may or may not include what is shown about her in the manga and character bible. I haven't gotten around to rereading this massive thing yet and I can't remember if I included it or not. ]

Basically, Anise is an outgoing young girl who very much enjoys her job as a Fon Master Guardian, which consists of protecting the Fon Master, Ion. Although, this job wasn't taken on by choice. When she was really young, her father was conned out of a large amount of money, which is called 'gald' in the world of Auldrant. A man, who works for the Daath cathedral under the title of Grand Maestro, named Mohs noticed this debt, and offered to help. He bailed them out of the debt her father got them in, but not without putting them in a different debt. They would all, including the young Anise, have to work for the cathedral, without pay, in return for Mohs's help. Since then, Anise has been determined to marry someone rich in order to free her family from their new debt to Mohs.

Upon meeting Luke fon Fabre, and later finding out he's from a rich family which rules the country of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear (more commonly referred to as just Kimlasca), she sets her mind on marrying him. They first meet at Engeve, where she's looking for Ion, who, as previously mentioned, is the Fon Master that she's been appointed to protect. After Luke and his current traveling partner, Tear Grants, tell her what they know about Ion and his whereabouts, the young guardian runs off in search for him and isn't seen again until the end of Cheagle Woods, where she is finally reunited with him. Her relationship with Colonel Jade Curtiss, whom she addresses simply as Colonel, is shown a little here, as she trusts him to look after Ion while she runs off to do a task that Jade asked of her, and also assists him in arresting Luke and Tear.

Her relationship with Jade is almost like a father-daughter relationship. They get along quite well and he addresses her in a way that does indeed seem as though he is a fatherly figure to her. Jade is a very difficult person to read, but she acts as if she understands him at least a little better than the rest of the characters. Always wanting to seem cute in front of him, Anise makes sure not to show her darker side while in his presence. Their understanding of each other is unique and she thinks of him as a close, trustworthy friend, even when others think of him as frustrating or difficult.

After Luke and Tear are arrested, they're taken to the Tartarus, a giant landship, for questioning. It's at this time that Anise finds out about Luke coming from an important and influential family, as well as having quite a lot of money. And so begins her plotting to become his wife. She soon thinks that he sort of has a thing going with Tear and tries her best to win Luke's heart with her charm and cute looks -- which only really proves to annoy him. She's not the type to give up easily, though, and continues to act sweet towards him, agree with what he says, and tell him she loves him.

Not long after their questioning takes place, the Tartarus is attacked by a man named Largo along with various monsters. Jade and Anise's relationship is once again shown when he has her run off to do something, as he trusts her to take care of it. Although, she ends up falling off the Tartarus and yelling one her most known lines, "I'll kill you bastards!", as she falls.

The party is forced to move on without her, and finally meets up with her again when they arrive at Kaitzur. She shows a bit of her dark side when a guard won't let her through without her passport, and she mumbles that he better watch his back. Ion hears her say this, and lets her know that Luke can hear her. As I previously stated, she's careful not to show her darker side in front of Jade, and the same rule applies to Luke. Immediately after Ion mentioning that, she switches to her cute side, and attempts to charm Luke and be adorable.

After obtaining passports from Van Grants, Tear's older brother, they are able to get through Kaitzur and head to the Kaitzur Naval Port, where they find Arietta attacking the town with her monsters. She tells them that Asch told her to do it and that Luke and Ion have to go to a place called Choral Castle alone, but the entire party ends up joining them.

Anise has a pretty bad history with Arietta and they don't get along well. Before Anise was appointed as Fon Master Guardian, it was Arietta's job to protect the Fon Master. Ever since she was replaced by Anise, she has had a deep hatrid for her, which Anise answers to with teasing and the nickname 'Gloomietta' -- because Anise knows it annoys Arietta.

After reaching the top of Choral Castle, Anise continues her arguing with Arietta and Luke is taken away to a place where Sync and Dist, two of the Six God-Generals, will open his fon slots to Asch, another of the Six God-Generals.

Dist has an important history with Anise. The doll on her back was modified by him so that it can respond to her fonon frequency. Thus, she can make it change size and even control it in battle. When she first entered the Oracle Knights, she decided to sit with him during lunchtime (which was apparently a crazy thing to do - Dist sat alone and no one ever went to sit with him). They end up forming an odd sort of friendship after that. But eventually, some girls end up bullying Anise, and even destroy Tokunaga. Dist finds it after the scene, and remodels it for her - both fixing the doll, and making it better.

After leaving Choral Castle and heading back to the Kaitzur Naval Port, the party gets on the Katsbert Ferry and heads to Chesedonia. They visit Astor, the man who governs Chesedonia, and Anise can't help but comment on how big his manor is and announce that she wishes she lived in a place like it. While leaving Chesedonia, the party is attacked by Sync, whom puts a weird mark called a Curse Slot on Guy. The party is able to escape to the Katsbert Ferry in time. The boats attacked by Dist, but he's easily driven off (and made fun of), and the party safely arrives at Baticul.

After arriving, they force their way in to see the king, Luke's uncle, and see that he's in a meeting with Mohs. They learn that Akzeriuth is in danger because of a huge leak of miasma, a poisonous gas, and are chosen to go and help the city. Luke and Tear go back to his manor to see his mother, and Anise leaves the party for a bit. Before leaving, though, she comes back and says that Ion is in danger and she decides to go with the party to Akzeriuth in hopes of finding Ion on the way. She always gives top priority to her job as Fon Master Guardian, and makes sure to protect the young Fon Master to the best of her ability.

While secretly leaving Baticul through the Abandoned Factory, Natalia, the daughter of the king and the girl Luke is engaged to, catches up with them. She forces them to allow her to come, despite everyone's protests. She uses the fact that she overheard an important (and secret) conversation between Luke and Van to force Luke into allowing her to come. Anise doesn't take kindly to Natalia and they don't get along in the least bit at the moment. She especially doesn't like that Natalia is already engaged to Luke -- that poses a threat to her plans to marry him. So, she constantly snipes at Natalia and even tells Luke that he should call the 'silly engagement' off.

After exiting the Abandoned Factory, they spot Asch (whom Luke notices looks a lot like him), along with Ion. Unfortunately, Anise isn't able to retrieve Ion and she begs to continue looking for him. Soon after that, they decide to head to the Desert Oasis, where Asch connects to Luke and tells him that theyre at the Zao Ruins, along with Ion. So, the party decides to head there.

Upon arriving, Anise is still only worried about finding Ion, which is what they are able to do when they reach the end of the place. Apparently, Asch was getting Ion to open a Daathic Seal in the Zao Ruins, and that's why he needed him. But, Ion is finally returned to Anise and she's content with that -- and lets him know that she was worried.

The party leaves the Zao Ruins and heads to Chesedonia, where Luke passes out and is taken to the inn. During the time he's passed out, Anise isn't sure if she'd want to take care of Luke while they're married. He seems sickly, and she'd rather just have a 'rich geezer who's ready to kick it'. That says a lot about her and how she's really only concerned with the money she marries into, and not the love.

After taking care of things in Chesedonia, the party heads to the Kaitzur Naval Port via ship, and then begins heading for Akzeriuth by passing through the Deo Pass. On the way through, Ion becomes really tired, and it worries Anise. Immediately after, Luke makes her furious by saying that they can't take any breaks for him. She's trying to marry him, but if anything bad is said about Ion, she snaps. There are no exceptions.

The party gets through a battle with another God-General, Legretta, and finally arrives at Akzeriuth, which is in absolute horrible condition. There are people everywhere, just laying there and dying from the miasma. Everyone decides to help out, except for the stuck up noble, Luke, of course, whom heads into the mines to find Van, and eventually ends up destroying the town and causing it to fall into a place called the Qliphoth.

Anise's attitude towards Luke completely changes after that. There's no more acting sweet towards him, she snipes at the things he says, and she doesn't care about acting cute in front of him. She doesn't even care if her dark side comes out a bit -- she just hates him right now. She later says that he's stupid and she's not sure about marrying anyone stupid, even if they are rich. Everyone else blames him for destroying the town, too, and causing them to fall into the Qliphoth (which none of them even really knew existed besides Ion and Tear), and Luke becomes extremely upset at the situation.

Tear informs them of a place called Yulia City -- the only city in the Qliphoth, because it's not a suitable place for people to live, thanks to all of the miasma around. So they take the still operable Tartarus and head there for the time being. After arriving, Asch shows up and fights Luke, but all Anise is really concerned with is that Luke is a replica of Asch -- which means Asch is a noble. That means money, of course.

Luke's knocked out after his battle with Asch, so Tear stays behind in the Qliphoth while everyone else goes back up to the Outer Lands -- which is the place where people normally live. They arrive at Port Belkend after using a Sephiroth Tree, something that holds the Outer Lands up over the Qliphoth, to get up there on the Tartarus. Soon after arriving, they head to Belkend.

At Belkend, Anise shows more discontent with Luke and continues to call him an idiot behind his back and claim that she doesn't care about him. He's rich, but she won't go for him if he's, um, destroyed a town and caused a huge chunk of land to fall into a place that she didn't even know existed. They go to the research facility, find some things out about replicas, and head over to Ortion Cavern.

There, Ion makes Anise concerned and she forces him wait in the Tartarus. The cavern is too dangerous for him and she is just really always concerned with his safety. They find more replica date here, and some cheagles that have been experimented on, but nothing really that concerns Anise. While they're in the process of leaving, there's an earthquake, and it signals that more land is about to fall into the Qliphoth.

The game switches back to Luke and Tear, so this part isn't really important to Anise. Just know that he's decided to be a changed man and they're now leaving the Qliphoth for the Outer Lands.

They meet up with Anise again at Daath, because Ion and Natalia were apparently captured by Mohs and were being held there. Anise first mistakes Luke for being Asch and asks if he cut his hair, but upon realizing that it's Luke, her tone of voice completely changes and she calls him a spoiled brat. She's still obviously not happy with him.

The party goes into the Oracle Headquarters soon after meeting up with Anise, and they save Natalia and Ion. Anise, of course, was only interested in finding Ion, and she immediately asks if he's okay. A war's starting, now, so they quickly leave and try to go to Grand Chokmah, but the Tartarus breaks down and they have to stop at Keterburg. Anise isn't happy about having to walk to Grand Chokmah, since it becomes a fortress during wartime and they can't directly enter it.

At Theor Forest, Anise gets angry at the guards for not allowing Ion to pass through. He's the Fon Master, so he should be allowed through, but he isn't allowed and that angers her. She believes that Ion should be allowed to do, well, anything, really.

They get through the forest and arrive at Grand Chokmah, where Ion has to try and heal Guy's curse slot. It tires him out, though, because he doesn't have very good stamina, and becomes tired extremely quickly. This obviously worries Anise, because she knows he always does this -- works himself too hard -- and it sort of frustrates and concerns her.

Next, St. Binah begins to fall into the Qliphoth, so the party heads to Sheridan to get the Albiore, which is a giant machine that can fly -- pretty much an airplane. They obtain one after saving the piolet, and head back to St. Binah to evacuate the citizens that still remain there.

They head to Yulia City after saving the citizens of St. Binah, and find a way to mess with the Sephiroth Trees so that they can hopefully save the land from sinking into the sea liquid miasma that covers the Qliphoth. Although, doing so will mean deviating from the Score -- which is pretty much a bunch of stones that tell the world what will happen, and they're accurate. So they head to Shurry Hill, which is where the nearest passage ring is -- something that controls the Sephiroth Trees.

The party is able to activate the Sephiroth Tree successfully -- albeit forcefully, since Luke has to manually carve the directions into it -- and they head back to the Outer Lands, where war has already begun. The land is still going to sink, though, and they have to get the rest of the people in the area away safely. So the team splits up into groups. One goes to help the people of Engeve get away safely to Chesedonia, while the other group goes to speak to Cecille, and eventually they both meet up in Chesedonia together.

Ion relieves Anise of her duties as Fon Master Guardian, and leaves the party at Chesedonia. They decide to head to Zao Ruins after finding out that Engeve has begun to sink and that they can lower the Shurry Hill controlled places by using the Zao Ruins passage ring.

After reaching the passage ring there, they are able to safely begin the slow descent of the currently falling parts of the Outer Lands. And after running a few other errands, the team ends up at Daath to ask Ion if the Score says anything about the Sephiroth Trees and them going out of control, which is what they seem to be doing.

They end up overhearing Mohs's plans -- which are basically to cause the war so that the world can stay on the path of the Score, and Van wants to destroy the Outer Lands by forcing all of the land to fall into the Qliphoth. Those are the two main problems at this point.

But back to Ion -- whom reads the Score for them at the expense of his health; no doubt once again worrying Anise. Thanks to him, though, it's revealed that the Score is already off track anyway. Some other errands are run in Belkend, and then the party heads to Daath, where they speak to Anise's parents and find out that the God-Generals are all out of Daath and that it's safe for them to be there at the moment. After their bussiness there, they head to Tataroo Valley, where there's another passage ring.

They activate the passage ring there, and head to a few other places, while activating other passage rings, such as the one at the Meggiora Highlands. Although, when trying to get into the Mt. Zaleho, Anise just so happens to stumble upon the entrance. It's suspicious that she'd know it's there so easily, and Jade picks at her and mentions that it is indeed suspicious. You see, she's actually a spy for Mohs (remember, she can't refuse what he wants, since they're in debt to him), despite it being against her will, so she knows the entrance to Mt. Zaleho because of that.

After activating the passage ring there, the party heads to other places, such as Mt. Roneal, and activates the passage ring there as well. Soon after, they head to the Absorption Gate to make it so that all of the land is able to be lowered safely, and they fight Van there. He falls into the core of the planet and is presumed to be dead.

Months later, everyone thinks everything is okay and the party is back to their original jobs and homes and they're living life normally. Although, it seems like Van might still be alive -- somehow. So they reassemble and Anise is of course found in Daath, where she's seen attempting to trick someone for their money. She tries her best to justify it and allow them to let her keep it, but she's scolded and told to give the money back. She doesn't believe any of them really understand the situation she's in and that she needs that money.

Unfortunately, upon going to Shurry Hill, they realize that Van is indeed alive, and the party heads to St. Binah to meet Jade. There, they find out that General Frings has been injured and are told to go to Grand Chokmah -- where Frings ends up dying.

Finally, after a few other various things happening, the group reaches Daath, where Anise runs away with Mohs and they take Ion with them. The rest of the party pursues them, and finally finds Anise, Mohs, and Ion deep in Mt. Zaleho, where Mohs is having Ion read the Score -- one last time. It takes a lot of Ion's stamina to read the Score, and he doesn't have a lot left to begin with, so this reading will be his final one. Yes, this causes him to die -- and Anise doesn't take it well. She was forced to do this, though, because of her debt to Mohs and his control over her and her family (and it certainly doesn't help anything that he's holding her parents hostage). They head back to Daath and Arietta challenges Anise to a duel. Anise isn't in the best of moods, obviously, thanks to Ion dying. She runs out of the room and into the chapel, so that she can be alone. And thus the canon point she's being taken from -- right after Ion dies and Anise is sitting alone in the chapel, before Luke comes to talk to her.
