Historia de Un Letrero

The other day, I went shopping for new shoes.

For someone with only one leg.

Her name is Dianne, and she had bone cancer. She in in remission-- for two years already. But in her fight against cancer years ago, she lost one of her legs. She is in third year high school now, and is a constant honor student. She is one bright kid.

The experience was surreal, to say the least. I have never bought shoes for an amputee in my life. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the whole thing.

And sometimes, I wonder-- how does it feel to have only one leg and shop for shoes that always come in pairs?

Then I remembered something my friend told me a few months ago:

He saw a blind man playing a guitar in the darkness under the pedestrian overpass with a single lightbulb by his face. But then what good is the light to someone who is blind?

The bulb was not for him to see, but for us to see that he was blind and know that we can help.
