Ramen and working on my Modest Mouse paper for Tom's class.
I chose three full-length studio albums and an EP (The Fruit that Ate Itself, The Lonesome Crowded West, The Moon & Antarctica, Good News for People Who Love Bad News) for my critical paper. I will go over the music and determine how it impacts the themes of each song/album, write up a close reading of the lyrics, and discuss the context for each of the albums.
I chose to do a critical review of the Modest Mouse albums because, despite my neglect of them for the past year and some, I am still very familiar with their music and very fond of the band. Also, I have witnessed much more seemingly sporadic (but probably not exactly so) evolution in their finished works.
I take such great, snobbish pleasure in being academic.
Tomorrow is Pizza and Pumpkins at Mary Foust. Luke, Tom and I have plotted out a Mark Mothersbaugh (or, as I later said, Mark Mothersquash) pumpkin that will conquer all!
