This evening, around 7:00, as I was walking home from the bus, with Raynedaze, I saw a police car sitting at the corner, in front of my house. A moment later, it took off at high speed. We wondered what was happening here, in my usually very quiet neighbourhood ( Read more... )

*Thick* (12" or so) stacks of books will stop bullets. Somehow, I have a sense you guys will have a terrible time finding that many books lying around.
I hope this evening was the outlier for your neighbourhood, and that you don't live in "interesting times" such as this. When I was at college, and my dorm looked over the local projects, I got mightily tired of doing the "duck and cover" routine night after night.

Heck, the Hero RPG core rule book has been shown to stop a .22 bullet all by itself.

But something tells me the constabulary is packing heat considerably bigger than .22-- something on the order of 9mm or 40 S+W.
