It's common knowledge there that Reavers will leave no survivors in their raids, and if they get on your trail, they will pursue you until they are forcibly stopped or you're caught. By "eat/rape/sew clothes out of skin", it means they literally do these things before their victims are dead. They're intelligent as well, enough to leave traps and such; basically beserkers on crack who are the most sadistic thing since sliced bread. o_o
