Death is part of a cycle.

When a human dies, they enter the Netherworld--or not, as it may be the case. Some are afraid we will destroy them, and wander the world as ghosts weighed down with memories and unable to be reincarnated. But we cannot help those that do not want us to.

Some depart the Netherworld immediately, others linger on. The process of enlightenment does not have a set time, and is different for each ghost.

When a soul rises above their mortal memories, they cross the Sanzu River for judgment--and from there, they are reincarnated into their next life.
