It takes five lines of poetry
before I'm at your door.
One startled exclamation
before I can knock.
And, instead of five heartbeats,
it's five lines of dialogue
before you open the door.
And then there you are.
Your blinks coincide
with a three-line haiku
before you smile at me.
And then it's six words,
and then syllables, before
I'm in your arms again.

Notes: Can't really remember where this came from. I really like the idea behind it, but I'm not so sure about the actual poem. I might revisit this idea someday.
